Aiming for the P.T. Barnum crowd?

Scott Wolfe must believe there is a sucker born every minute. On his web site he proclaims how he believes that every fireman and policeman should be guaranteed college tuition for their children. However, he didn't see fit for them to deserve a pay raise when the matter was brought up to voters in the March election. As a member of the Executive Council for the St. Bernard Area Chamber of Commerce, he voted against the pay raise.

Besides his flip-flops that make him worthy of a Democratic Presidential contender, he seems to be a shameless self-promoter.

The St. Mark Church Italian Festival was this past-weekend. Two politicians made personal appearances, Senatorial candidate Walter Boasso and Parish President candidate Junior Rodriguez. Both of these candidates mingled with the crowd and bought several hundred dollars worth of refreshments for the crowd.

What did Scott Wolfe do? He had his minions walk the streets surrounding the church and place his campaign literature on the parked cars.

Was there a problem with spending some of his advertising budget at the fair itself? Other candidates paid $50 to have their name displayed as a fair sponsor. But, then again, this is standard operating procedure for Scott Wolfe. He did the same thing for the Hannan High School Shrimp Festival. According to reports I received, he took pains to park his Wolfe van in front of the school and had people ride up and down Hannan Blvd. with Wolfe signs on their cars or dressed as a wolf.

Maybe this is why, for all the supposive support he has, he has received only $745 in campaign contributions from St. Bernard Parish. Of that amount, $545 was an In-Kind contribution from a retail outfit that then received several thousand dollars worth of sales from his campaign.

Scanning all finance reports until the Oct 2 report, Wolfe is claiming contributions of $86,034. This amount can be split into real cash contributions of $12,495, all but $745 from out-of-parish concerns and $73,539 from loans. Why does this give the appearance that he is trying to buy this election?

There have also been some rumors that Wolfe has been responsible for the disappearance of messages on the NOLA.com St. Bernard forum that cast a bad light on him. There's no way to know for sure, but this is just one more thing that makes Wolfe seem like a Clinton to me.

Be good to yourself,
