Sticker Shock
Remember that sticker shock you got six months ago when you found out how much your home was going to reappraised for? That increase has amounted to $1.28 million in additional tax revenues for the St. Bernard Parish School Board, an 11 percent increase over 2003.
The School Board is going to take advantage of that increase by rolling the millage rate forward to 35 mills instead of 33.35 mills.
School Board President Dr. Hugh Craft said the additional monies will be used to pay for needed school repairs and maintenance.

The Orlando Sentinel Sports was the first paper to cover the news of Steve Weber of Chalmette, winning a spot on the TeamUSA bowling team. In a week-long competition, he has earned one of the eight spots on the team that will compete in international events, including the AMF World Cup, the Tournament of the Americas, the World Games and the World Tenpin Association World Women's Championships.
