Galaxy Watch Lock

Restoring the LOCK feature to Samsung Galaxy watches.

This app does one thing and one thing only, it locks your watch.

I often have my grand-kids on my lap and they love to start pressing and swiping on the face of my watch. It got to be where I wouldn’t unlock my watch and be able to read texts and other notifications, so I finally decided to just write my own app to lock the watch since Samsung refuses to add it back as a native feature.

Unfortunately, the Google/Samsung partnership behind WearOS, also made locking the watch an administrative feature. Therefore, the app requires the Device Admin privilege to be able to actually lock the watch.

That is the only privilege it needs and the only reason it needs it. There is no data collection, no ads, no fancy graphics. Just the barebones smallest app to allow it to do the one thing it was designed for.

It is all spelled out in the Privacy Policy, written by Google’s Gemini AI.

Once Google approves the app for the Play Store, I’ll be able to add the direct link.

To uninstall:
Because of the Device Admin setting, it takes an extra step to uninstall the app:

  1. Settings
  2. Device admin apps
  3. LockWatch
  4. Deactivate

Now you can uninstall LockWatch normally – long press the app icon and select Uninstall.

It seems that the ability to deactivate the Device Admin privilege thru the Settings app is not always available, so I’ve added the option inside the app itself.
